Police checkpoint attacked in Ghazni

Unidentified gunmen overnight attacked a highway police checkpoint in the Band-e-Sarda area of the central province of Ghazni, officials said on May 15. Colonel Abdul Razaq, deputy operations chief of the highway police, said the police officers suffered no casualties in the shootout, and their return fire forced the assailants to flee. No one has been arrested in connection with the attack so far, he added.
