Northern group joins call for government of national unity
The Arewa Consultative Forum, a northern socio-political organization, has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to constitute a government of national unity.
The forum also congratulated Jonathan on his victory at the polls.
The forum had opposed the candidacy of President Jonathan on the grounds that a northerner should be elected president in accordance with the zoning policy of the ruling People’s Democratic Party.
The forum said a government of national unity is desirable because no nation thrives on the victory of its factions but through their ultimate reconciliations.
The Arewa Consultative Forum also commended the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega for conducting elections, which local and international observers adjudged as better than previous ones.
