Northern forum wants NYSC retained

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has called for the retention of the National Youth Service Corps scheme (NYSC).
ACF is a northern socio-political organization.
Some Nigerians have called for the scrapping of the NYSC because of the killing of ten corps members during post-election violence in northern Nigeria.
But spokesperson of ACF, Anthony Sani, argued that the ideals of fostering national unity which informed the establishment of NYSC are still relevant.
Sani said that abolishing the NYSC will amount to suggesting that Nigerians should not live outside their states of origin.
Sani however described the killings as regrettable and called on government to provide adequate security for serving corps members in all parts of the country.
