Nigerian Women Urged to Support Female Candidates

Nigerian women have been urged to take up the challenge of mobilising support for female candidates in this year’s general elections.

The Chairperson of the Ondo State Chapter of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, Mrs Olutope Fasuyi, made the call in an interview with our correspondent in Akure.

She said Nigerian women should be their sisters' keepers and vote women into office regardless of the political parties they represent.

Fasuyi also appealed to Nigerians to shun thuggery, violence and rigging, but rather defend their votes and ensure they are not intimidated by money and the strong-arm tactics of politicians and their thugs.

The frontline female journalist urged all stakeholders in the polls to ensure they play their roles efficiently and not disappoint local and international observers.
