NGOs to Play Mediating Role
On March 26, civil society activists want to bring opposition and government representatives together in a bid to find common ground, Asiya Sasykbaeva, director of the Interbilim group told the 24.kg news agency. The move was prompted by opposition protests planned by the United Front for a Worthy Future for Kyrgyzstan for early April. NGO activists held a similar event called the Civil Forum prior to the demonstrations last November, but this did not prevent a major confrontation between opposition and government supporters on the streets.
