Next Arab Summit in Damascus

Arab League Secretary-General Amr Musa has confirmed that the grouping’s next summit will take place in the Syrian capital Damascus, Al-Baath newspaper reported on December 30.

More immediately, Arab League foreign ministers will gather in Cairo at the weekend for an emergency summit which will discuss the current Palestinian situation, the prospect of further Israeli settlements, Iraq and Lebanon. On the latter question, Musa said political developments in Lebanon were an Arab issue, not a European one, and the Arab League would continue working on the issue .
