An investigation by the Dutch authorities concluded this week that former Serbian president died “a natural death”.

The Dutch public prosecutor’s office said that Milosevic died between 7 and 9 am on March 11. It confirmed that “serious heart diseases” were discovered during the autopsy “which may have caused the cardiac arrest” and that the toxicological examination showed that “no traces were found of medicines that had not been prescribed”.

The tribunal’s own internal inquiry is expected to report “shortly”.

The Swedish government is conducting an independent audit of the tribunal detention unit at the request of the court.
