Militants arrested in Baghdad

Al-Sabah al-Jadid is an independent political daily issued in Baghdad.

Iraqi and multi-national forces arrested two groups of militants in Baghdad. Wasit police chief General Hussein Abdul-Hadi told the Aswat al-Iraq news agency that the groups consisted of 350-400 armed men who wanted to cut off the road between Kut and Baghdad in an attempt to separate the capital from the southern governorates. Iraqi security forces killed forty-five.
