A resident of Shah Wali Kot district of the southern province of Kandahar was shot dead after attacking a soldier with the Canadian-led Provincial Reconstruction Team, PRT, with an axe on March 4, officials said. The spokesperson for the Kandahar PRT said that the attack came as soldiers were discussing a project with local elders in the village of Shinkai. The spokesperson said that during the negotiations, a local man attacked [Captain] Trevor Greene with an axe, seriously injuring him. The attacker was shot dead by PRT soldiers, and his body was handed over to villagers.
