Kovacevic Case

Tribunal Update 67: Last Week in The Hague (March 9-14, 1998)

Saturday, 14 March, 1998

Presiding Judge Richard May and Judges Lal Chand Vohrah and Florence Mumba will try Kovacevic.

Whether the trial will really begin according to the schedule will depend on the decision of the Appeals Chamber, to which the Prosecutor has sent, in the meantime, a "notice of intent to apply for leave to appeal" against the Trial Chamber's denial of her motion to amend the indictment and to add 14 counts of grave breaches, violation of the laws and customs of war and crimes against humanity, to the single count of genocide.

A bench of three Judges of the Appeals Chamber will consider the Prosecutor's application.
