Kazak President Due in Bishkek on April 26

Wednesday, 11 April, 2007
Kazakstan’s president Nursultan Nazarbaev will visit Bishkek on April 26 to take part in a conference on Kazak investment in Kyrgyzstan. Kazak businesses have a growing presence in the country, especially in banking, tourism, construction and telecommunications. Former Kyrgyz prime minister Amangeldy Muraliev said on April 9 that if anti-government demonstrations planned to start on April 11 are still going on by the time Nazarbaev gets to Bishkek, he would be a good choice of mediator between the authorities and the opposition.
