Karzai nominated for Indira Gandhi Peace Award

Afghan president Hamed Karzai has been nominated for the Indira Gandhi Peace Award, said his spokesman on December 12. Karimi said the selection for this year’s Peace, Disarmament and Development Award was announced by that Delhi’s Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who is also secretary of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust. Dikshit said the decision by the award jury was unanimous. The award is conferred for outstanding achievements in the field of peace.
