INEC explains absence of results on website

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained that technical problems are responsible for the non- display of all the 2011 election results on its website.

The Next Newspaper had reported last weekend that the INEC website was yet to be updated to accommodate the results of the April 9 National Assembly elections.

But INEC spokesperson, Kayode Idowu told the Nigerian Election News Report (NENR) that there was no hidden reason for the development.

According to Idowu, INEC’s IT department is looking into why each fresh upload of result leads to the loss of some other data thus making the exercise incomplete.

Idowu expressed optimism that the problems will soon be fixed so that all the election results can be accessed on the INEC website.
