Heroin seized in Badakhshan

Police seized 36 kilograms of heroin in the Yawanragh district of the north-eastern province of Badakhshan on April 11, officials said. Provincial police chief Colonel Shah Jahan Noori said a group of ten traffickers who were trying to smuggle the drugs to the provincial capital Faizabad managed to escape. Police have cordoned off the area and the smugglers are likely to be tracked down soon, Noori said.
