The government is preparing to bid for more revenue from Kyrgyzstan’s largest gold mine. On March 12, the government will negotiate with the mining firm Cameco and its subsidiary Centerra which works the Kumtor gold mine in the northern Issykkul region, to design a new project which will subsequently become law. Deputy Prime Minister Daniar Usenov said on March 6 that the government has received some 400 million US dollars less than it should have from Kumtor.
