Unidentified militants set fire to a girls’ high school in the Darayoum district of the north-eastern province of Badakhshan on the night of May 15. Deputy provincial governor Shamsurrahman Shams said “enemies of education and of the people” attacked the school in the village of Duab at 11 in the evening. The head of the district’s education department said that 10 tents [used as temporary premises] and the all textbooks and other study materials were destroyed in the fire.
