Unidentified gunmen torched two tankers supplying fuel to the Afghan National Army, ANA, in the Girishk district of the southern province of Helmand, officials said on March 5. The crime branch chief at provincial police headquarters, Amanullah, said that the Taleban rebels surrounded the Haiderabad area and set the tankers alight. The fighters blocked the road to ANA vehicles, he added. The attack came days after the Taleban insurgents shot dead the chief of Helmand’s Sangin district on March 3.
