Chief engineer at the company Kirkuk Oil Products Shihab Jamil Sharif has said that building a refinery in the north would help in solving the fuel crisis in the northern provinces and Kurdistan. He said that the fuel crisis in Kirkuk was due to the fact that the Kirkuk refinery produced 700,000-750,000 litres of oil daily, less than a third of the city's needs. He said a new refinery could be built in Kirkuk, Mosul or any other city in the Kurdistan region.
