Foreign Investment Law

The council of ministers' high economic committee has finished studying the trade ministry's new law to encourage the foreign investment in Iraq. Trade minister Abdul Falah al-Soodani said the committee has studied the law in-depth and made several amendments to it. He said the ministerial council has taken the other ministries' notes into consideration before presenting it to parliament for approval. Soodani maintained that the law would open the gate for foreign investment. He said it would enable Iraq to use modern technology to rebuild infrastructure that was damaged because of the former regime's incorrect policies, Iraq's wars and the foreign occupation. He called on civil society organizations, universities and media outlets to read the law and give feedback so that it can be improved.
