EU to INEC: Improve conduct of elections

The European Union election monitoring team has advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve the electoral process before the next general elections.

At the presentation of its final election observation report, the team’s chief observer, Alojz Peterle, said although the 2011 election was adjudged credible, the electoral body should still improve on its efficiency.

The EU team had about one hundred and forty-one observers during the April elections.

Peterle added that the EU hoped to have robust working relationship with Nigeria's new government in the future.
