Al-Sabah al-Jadeed is an independent daily paper.

Hundreds of Iraqis demonstrated (on January 25) in Samara (in central Iraq) to protest al-Qaeda fighters whom they accused of killing dozens of police officers there. Tribal leaders and patriotic individuals came together to oppose the foreign fighters and sweep them out of the city. US military leaders praised the move as a positive political development. The demonstration was organized by the Iraqi Islamic Party and the Association of Muslims Scholars.
