Demonstration to Save the Palms

Al-Bayan is issued four times weekly by the Islamic Da'wa Party.

Karbala province witnessed mass demonstrations participated by the local citizens of Karbala and Husseiniya district asking the authorities to take immediate actions to save their palm orchards and to start treating insects that may ruin the palms. They requested that the names of individuals opposing the treatment be made public and that planes be used to (kill) the insects. The demonstration was led by Karbala governor Akil al-Kuzai, and several provincial council and tribal council leaders participated. The governor said the demonstrators urged the authorities to set up strategic plans to improve the agricultural resource and to aid Iraq's economy.
