Corps Members Serving In Bauchi To Be Redeployed

The 79 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from Kwara State, who were evacuated from Bauchi following the post election violence that occurred there, are to be redeployed.

A statement from the office of the secretary to the Kwara State government said the government was already collaborating with the NYSC for the redeployment of the corps members.

The statement issued in Ilorin by the press secretary, Nurudeen Dauda, urged the corps members to contact the mobilization officer at the NYSC office in Ilorin for more information.

Nurudeen asked the corps members to officially apply for their redeployment and fill relevant forms to fast-track the process.

There have been calls for the NYSC scheme to be scrapped since ten corps members lost their lives in the post election violence.

Others have suggested that corps members in the northern states prone to outbreak of violence be redeployed to their states of origin.

But the Director General of the NYSC declared recently that only corps members serving in parts of the country directly affected by the violence would be redeployed.
