Five copies of the Koran were burned after Taleban militants set fire to a boys’ school in the Nadali district of the southern province of Helmand officials said. The provincial director of education said armed men stormed into the school and set fire to the classrooms on the night of February 20, burning study materials and five Korans. He blamed enemies of Afghanistan for the attack. He added that provincial security officials have been approached about the provision of security for schools in the Nadali district, but regrettably no action has yet been taken. The official noted that Helmand has 24 schools attended by more than 100,000 pupils.
