Bird Flu May Emerge Again

Hawlati is an independent newspapers issued weekly by Ranj Print house.

Mohammed Khoshnaw, minister of health in the Kurdish government, said there is a possibility that bird flu may spread. In statement to Hawlati, the minister said, "We are afraid of another bird flu outbreak because live birds are being sold and slaughtered in an unsanitary way." He said the agriculture ministry was negligent for not stopping the sale of live birds in markets, which he said may cause the disease to re-emerge. Two people died of bird flu (in Sulaimaniyah) earlier this year.
