Syrian information minister Bilal al-Hassan has said his country is supportive of stability in Lebanon, but this is something which needs accord and partnership between all people in that country.

At a press conference reported by the Syria News agency on January 9, al-Hassan said his country agreed with and supported the Arab League’s plan for ending the Lebanese crisis. This plan, he said, coincided with Syria’s own view of a solution that lies in the hands of the Lebanese people themselves, with outside Arab states playing only a supporting role. The minister added that Damascus would take part in making a success of the Arab League Secretary-General’s plan for resolving the Lebanese crisis.
