Your Questions Answered

How does IWPR achieve change?
Disinformation is the challenge of our time, dividing societies and driving conflict. IWPR builds up local voices of independent journalism and civil society and rights activists to produce fact-based reports, combat extremism and build trust across communities and inform responsible debate. Reliable information is essential to help drive positive social change.
HOW DOES IWPR EMPOWER LOCAL REPORTERS?
IWPR programming responds to local needs and priorities. IWPR’s core work is training and mentoring, partnership relationships that embed professional skills for the long-term. IWPR provides financial assistance for media production, helps launch and fund local media and civic organisations, and provides strategic, management, communications and advocacy advice, as well as security training.
HOW WILL MY DONATION MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Private support is critical for IWPR’s overall operations. It enables us to provide frontline support to the work of local journalists, helps us provide them protection and assistance in case of attack or danger, and allow IWPR to innovate with new programme initiatives to respond to evolving needs, such as social media and COVID-19.
