Central government cuts Kurdish region's budget

Kurdistani Nwe is a daily issued by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

Dilshad Osman, the Kurdish region's deputy finance minister, has told the Kurdistani Nwe newspaper that the Iraqi finance ministry has cut 485 million US dollars from Kurdistan’s budget. He said the cut was discovered after a review of the 2006 budget. "We informed Baghdad about this issue in January,” Osman said, adding that no answer had been received so far and warning that if the matter remained unresolved, legal proceedings would be instituted because "because we consider it unfair".
