A gang of robbers blocked the Kabul-Kandahar highway on November 29 in the Kakar area of the southern province of Zabul, officials said. Gulab Shah Alikhil, a spokesman for the governor of Zabul, said the gang escaped to a nearby village before security forces arrived. Police surrounded the village and arrested eight suspected and seized a Toyota Corolla. Travellers on the Kabul-Kandahar road have been repeatedly held up in the past.
