A court in Kabul has handed down a four-year prison term to Abdul Jabar, the head of a non-government organisation called Peace and Human Rights, for forgery and deceit. The court sentenced six of Jabar’s colleagues to between three and four months in jail. The court ruled that Peace and Human Rights had failed to pay three months’ hire charges on 1,200 vehicles that it had rented, and had not paid a 500 US dollar deposit. Jabar and his team rejected the allegations, saying the case was a conspiracy against them.
