A number of parliamentarians have criticised plans to end visa requirements with Pakistan. Noor ul-Haq Ulumi, a member of the Wolesi Jirga, or lower house of parliament, said President Hamed Karzai’s proposal to remove visa restrictions between Afghanistan and Pakistan would add to instability, as terrorists are still active. He said this region is not Europe, and taking such a step is not appropriate.
