Kadhi Holds Talks with Barazani

Al-Sabah al-Jadeed is an independent daily paper.

Ashraf Kadhi, Iraqi representative for United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan, met with Kurdistan region president Masoud Barazani and discussed the latest Iraqi political issues. They discussed the election results, revising the constitution and forming the next government. Barazani welcomed the role of the UN in helping Iraq with its constitution, political development and the (December 2005 parliamentary) election. He expressed the need for the UN to continue its work in Iraq. Kadhi congratulated Barazani on unifying the two Kurdish administrations. (The Kurdistan Regional Government recently agreed to unify its two administrations: The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan-run government in Sulaimaniyah and the Kurdistan Democratic Party's administration in Erbil.)
