Saddam Describes Rizkar As Patriotic

Al-Bayyna is a weekly paper issued by the Hezbollah movement in Iraq.

An Iraqi judicial source said the trial of (former Iraqi leader) Saddam Hussein and seven of his former deputies will resume (on January 24) and that justice Raoof Rasheed will oversee the session after the resignation of chief justice Rizkar Amin. Saddam described Amin as "patriotic" for rejecting the US occupation in Iraq and (reportedly) told his lawyers that he was sorry Amin resigned. Media reports revealed that president Jalal Talabani sent a delegate to Sulaimaniyah to try to convince Amin to stay as chief justice and promised that no one would interfere in the trial.
