Police patrols found a number of beheaded bodies, including some of policemen, in the town of Beiji, northwest of Tikrit, on September 24. There are conflicting reports about the number of bodies and their location. Some sources said there were nine, but Azzaman’s correspondent in Salahadin province said there were ten of them. Police said an armed group driving an Opel car threw ten heads out in the Fulkat Beji neighbourhood in the centre of town, and that four of the bodies belonged to contractors, translators and drivers working for the United States military.
