Little remains of the island's lighthouse. Built in 1842 for the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Empire, it was destroyed during WWII and rebuilt in 1944. The incessant shelling for the control of the outpost left it again in ruins.

The neighbouring Villa Reef (on the right) was heavily damaged. Russia's plans to take over Odesa and its regions wiftly have failed but Ukraine's coast remains vulnerable to air strikes.
