As Ukrainians flee the Russian invasion, volunteers are rescuing left pets stranded in Kyiv and the capital’s suburbs.

ZooPatrol is a grassroots organisation saving cats and dogs abandoned in the chaos of war. Volunteer patrols receive reports of animals in need, are despatched and feed them, flagging cases to a vet if medical attention is needed. With a network started via a word of mouth, ZooPatrol has grown and now receives hundreds of notifications daily via its Facebook and Instagram channels.
