A drive to give names to Kabul’s streets was launched on December 5 by Information, Culture and Tourism Minister Sayed Makhdum Rahin and Kabul mayor Ghulam Sakhi Nurzad. “All city streets in foreign countries have specific names, but unfortunately the streets in Kabul have none,” said Rahin in a speech kicking off the campaign. “The naming of Kabul streets has been approved by the president and today we are inaugurating the process.” In the first phase, 300 streets are expected to be assigned names, honouring great indivuduals from Afghanistan and the rest of the world.
