Justice ministry promises Abu Ghraib closure

Baghdad is a daily newspaper issued by the Iraqi National Accord.

An official source at the ministry of justice says it will close the Abu Ghraib prison and transfer detainees to jails at Soosa in Sulaimaniyah and Badoosh in Mosul due to the poor security situation in the area and the bad situation inside the prison, including abuse of inmates. He added that the 13,000 to14,000 detainees currently held under the supervision of the multilateral forces would be transferred to another jail, located near the airport, as soon as this facility is finished.
