Twelve die in bus crash

Hewad is a state-run daily published mostly in Pashto.

Twelve people died and 32 were injured on the morning of December 6 in an accident on the Kabul-Herat highway. The incident happened near the town of Maidan in Wardak province, when a passenger bus carrying 44 people skidded off the road and overturned. Of the 32 injured, 14 were taken to hospital in Kabul in critical condition, while the rest are being treated in Maidan. Witnesses said the crash happened when the driver lost control at high speed. According to local residents, there have been nearly 50 traffic accidents in the area this year.
