Afghan president bans new appointments

Outlook is an independent daily published in English.

President Hamed Karzai on March 19 ordered all government ministries and departments to halt new appointments and transfers. A presidential decree said the order will remain in force until a new cabinet is formed. A source at the presidential office said that the government offices are not allowed to spend large amounts on purchasing during this period.
