As Turkmenistan holds one of the vice-chairmanships of the United Nations General Assembly this year, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov will address the session on September 25. He will talk about the upcoming General Assembly debates on peace and security, the fight against terrorism, defending human rights, protecting the environment, and social and economic development in member states.
The last time Turkmenistan was represented by its president at the General Assembly was 12 years ago, when the organisation recognised Ashgabat’s initiative to declare itself a neutral state.
