A government commission has criticised certain TV stations for screening films which run counter to Islam and Afghan national traditions. At a meeting chaired by the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Sayed Makhdum Raheen, the commission reviewed complaints received about certain TV shows and issued the following statement, “The commission reviewing violations of the media law is serving notice to television stations that they should not screen shameful or ludicrous scenes or naked females; this goes against the spirit of Islam, national conventions, public morals, the constitution and the media law…. Any repeat of such violations will result in prosecution of the person involved by the office of the attorney general.”
