Wolesi Jirga to hear issues raised by public
Cheragh is an independent daily run by the Development and Democracy Association.
Members of the Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of parliament, have been looking into problems raised by members of the public. In their March 15 session, deputies discussed complaints sent in by people from Bamian, Uruzgan, Balkh and Badghis provinces. The issues they raised included corruption in government departments, the lack of clean drinking water and clinics, and forced marriage. The chamber decided to refer each complaint to the relevant Wolesi Jirga commission. Meanwhile, the upper house or Meshrano Jirga summoned the acting interior minister and questioned him about the security situation.
