Al-Bayan is issued four times weekly by the Dawa Party, chaired by prime minister Ibrahim al-Ja'afari.

Official statistics published for the first time by the defence ministry reveal that 5,713 Iraqis were killed and 9,378 injured in sabotage acts in 2005. Most of the victims died from car bombs, mortars bombs and road side bombs, along with the terrorist attacks from explosive belts and light weapons. The statistics indicated that 4,020 civilians and 1,693 members of security forces were killed in insurgent operations.
