Uzbekistan hosts Islamic Culture Conference

On August 14-15, Tashkent and Samarkand will host a conference of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, ISESCO.



The meeting will be attended by around 100 foreign scholars on Islamic affairs as well as by government officials, clerics and other participants from more than 30 countries and international organisations such as including ISESCO, UNESCO, the Arab League and the Islamic Development Bank.



Ever year, ISESCO designates two cities in the Arab world and one each from Asia and Africa as “capitals of Islamic culture”. This year, Tashkent is the Asian city.
