Ukrainian National Guard Has Slavyansk Surrounded

As part of phase two of the counter-terrorism operation, Ukrainian National Guard troops have blockaded Slavyansk. This news was announced by the head of the National Guard, Stepan Poltorak, who is currently in Donetsk region.

Poltorak said the village of Cherkasskoye north of Slavyansk had been freed.

The head of the Ukrainian Security Service’s Counter-Terrorism Centre, Vasily Krutov, has said that troops are placing a blockade around Slavyansk but will not attempt to storm the town.
