Two states elect governors today
Today marks the final chapter of the 2011 general elections.
In Kaduna and Bauchi states, voters will file out to elect new Governors and Legislators.
The elections were re-scheduled by INEC, following the violence that erupted in northern Nigeria shortly after the presidential elections.
Lives and property were lost during the crisis.
Voter turn-out is expected to be low in the two states.
That was the trend in states affected by post-election violence during Tuesday’s governorship and assembly election in twenty-four other states.
Thousands of people remain displaced in the two states and are sheltered in refugee camps provided by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The two states are currently controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but the opposition Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) looks good for an upset.
CPC swept the two states in the earlier Presidential elections.
