Unknown assailants attacked the Iraqi Communist Party's headquarters in Sadr City, killing two party members. The party's leadership laid responsibility of the attack on the government, and called for the assailants to be handed over to the courts. The attack happened after the popular march organized by the party in preparation for the December 15, 2005 parliamentary elections.
