Turkmen President to Visit Saudi Arabia

President Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov has accepting King Abdullah ibn Abdul Aziz al-Saud’s invitation to visit Saudi Arabia some time before April 20, making this his first official visit abroad as president. Observers say Berdymuhammedov has violated the traditional rule that new Central Asian leaders make Moscow their first port of call. Talks are expected to focus on energy and the two countries will sign a package of bilateral agreements on trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation.
