Turkmen Military Strengthens Ties With Belarusian Counterparts

Monday, 16 July, 2007
Turkmen defence minister, General Agageldy Mametgeldyev, will pay an official visit to Belarus between July 21 and July 25 to develop military cooperation between the two countries.

He will meet with his Belarussian counterpart, Colonel General Leonid Maltsev, and head of the state military and industrial committee Nikolay Azamatov.

Ties between the two former Soviet states are longstanding and Belarus has previously supplied Turkmenistan with modern military equipment, while Turkmen officers acted as observers in military exercises in Belarus.
